When thinking recently about what to do about my first book, I was thinking of what to do to
make it interesting and different. I got an idea today about applying lectio divina to anime.
The first link is an article that I wrote for a recent edition of our school magazine about what lectio
divina is, how you can do it on your own it, using myself as an example, and with others, like in the
group setting example I used. This article also includes how lectio can be applied to spiritual direction,
which is something I learned in graduate school.
Applying lectio to anime for my first book is something that I think I can also do. It's certainly an
interesting and different idea. I'm not exactly sure how I would do it, but I would be interested in
pursuing this idea and relating it to my other ideas that I have already written for the book, including an
introduction that I've already been working on. A monk interested in anime is different and applying
lectio, which is something that I do already as a monk, to anime is how I think I can make anime
relevant to my monastic life. I also think that I would need more time to focus on this and I have this
time during our long summer break from school for most of June and July. I'm not sure if I'll have
much time to do this during our school year. Even though I don't teach now, I'm still busy with other
things. One of these other things is figuring out what to do with lectio for the students in my
school group (the school groups aren't going to meet in the beginning of 2022 due to the pandemic,
which is another influential factor since it influences what we do here and how I feel about it). The
second link is how lectio is done in our school groups, with the steps written by a colleague, the third
link is how the second link information can be applied to anime, which can also be seen in my future
blog posts, and the fourth link is an article I recently wrote for the school newspaper where I work and
live where I talk more about my idea of Anime Lectio.
Instead of updating my entire blog for all of my anime posts to be Anime Lectio posts, which I did
think about doing before, only my future blog posts, starting after this post, will be Anime Lectio
posts. My way of thinking about anime has changed since I started this blog. For example, since I
won't rely on youtube videos for my posts anymore, I don't subscribe to a lot of the youtube channels
that have videos I use. This is also for the purpose of limiting my use of youtube to just listening to
certain anime music and use of other channels on it, both anime and non-anime, which I'm still trying
to figure out how to do in terms of limiting it. This will most likely be something that I think about a
lot as my interest in anime has changed over time and is based on who I am, which is what this interest,
as well as other interests, should be like, even for people with youtube channels (we are different - that
doesn't mean anyone is wrong for what we do and how we do it).
Anyway, changing the posts I have written before my Anime Lectio posts would be like changing
my past and what I have done before. I believe continuing this blog with Anime Lectio posts will be
more helpful for me moving forward. I also think focusing more on my Anime Lectio idea will help
me with other things as I move forward, like with other writing I would be interested in pursuing,
teaching, and other things I'm interested in besides teaching and writing (example - anime club I started
in 2020 will start up again in 2022-2023, but as anime and manga club).
