Redline: The Power of Racing

What I like about the movie Redline is that it is able to tell an interesting story, with stories within it,

in an entertaining way.  There's much more to this movie than racing, like the stories behind it.  The

point of there's more is one of the five general observations about anime that I go over with my

summer anime class (it's also a way to talk about many other things you can see in anime without

having several more points - making it the last point helps with that).  Besides the stories in this movie,

I would say it also stresses the power of racing, which can be seen in the stories of this movie.

The first of these stories is seen between JP, the main character, Frisbee, his partner/friend, and

Sonoshee, one of the other racers that JP ends up helping.  I think the reason JP does so well when it

comes to racing is because he relies on the power of racing, not the power of weapons, which

everyone else uses in the race since they can.  This is just one thing that makes JP different from most

of the other characters and their stories.

The second of these stories is of not only the race itself, but also the other characters involved in the

race.  Not only does the race itself have its own story, but so do the other characters involved in it,

which is what leads to the third story of Robo World, who are the only characters trying to stop this

race.  The power of racing cannot be stopped.

There are many other things I can say about this movie, but as the video I use in this reflection

says, the best thing to do is go see it (I actually saw it for free on youtube).
