Pacifism in Trigun

As I've mentioned before, a common moral issue seen in anime involves the concept of
utilitarianism, which is the idea that what is better for more people is the best option. The concept of
utilitarianism also involves the concept of pacifism, which is the idea that any kind of violence is not
justifiable at all and that all disputes/conflicts can be settled peacefully. Usually in anime, especially in
anime with any degree of fighting in it, pacifism is simply ignored or not really dealt with. In the series
Trigun, the main character, with the help of other characters, tries to settle his problems with pacifism,
which is also explained by the video in this reflection.
Based on what you first hear about the main character, it doesn't seem like he would be a pacifist at
all, let alone even try to be one. What's important here is the difference between who the main
character actually is and who people think he is. The main character is a not so serious gunman with
superhuman abilities (he literally isn't human) who tries to use these abilities to help people without
violence (I guess using a gun to not kill people counts as pacifism). He has a bounty because of one
incident that he could mostly do nothing about, which most people don't know the truth about except
for him (and one other character not mentioned in the video - the video leaves out some of what
happens in the series).
No matter who you actually are, or who people think you are, what matters is what you do.
Pacifism may not always be realistic, but if it, or something like it, can be done, then it should be done.
Trigun gives us examples of such pacifism.
