Reality vs. Fantasy in Paranoia Agent

Despite the fact that the anime Paranoia Agent is pretty confusing, which the video I use for this
reflection acknowledges, I think it is still worth watching since you can get a lot out of it. The main
thing I get out of this anime is the conflict between reality and fantasy, including what this conflict
means and why it starts.
The reason why the conflict between reality and fantasy starts has to do with responsibility, which is
what the video I use in this reflection starts with. Our responsibilities (we tend to have more than one)
are what keep us in reality. Fantasy comes in when we try to escape from these responsibilities, which
takes us away from reality in terms of fully experiencing it. The reason(s) for doing this depend on the
person, but they involve stress. Not only are there several examples of this offered in this anime, but
I'm sure we all have examples we know of and experience for ourselves (myself included).
What this conflict means also has to do with why it starts. If fantasy is something you rely on in
order to escape from your stressful problems, or responsibilities, in reality, then how long can you
escape from these problems? The video ends with the important question of "What will you do
now?" This implies that fantasy doesn't, and can't, last forever as long as reality still exists. This
question is one that we all have to ask ourselves eventually, as well as more than once.
This is what I get out of the anime Paranoia Agent. There may be more that I can get out of it,
which is true of all my reflections, both ones I have written already and ones that I will write, but the
best way to know that is to watch the anime yourself. It also helps to watch videos about the anime
after watching it (a good one for Paranoia Agent is the following video -
