Gender identity in Level E

I've noticed that there have been a lot of new anime videos on youtube recently. This is
most likely due to the pandemic since people who like to make these videos have more time to do it
now. One of these videos is the video I use in this reflection. Even though this video isn't
entirely about the anime Level E, it's an anime that I've never heard of until seeing this video. Dealing
with gender identity is also only a minor part of this anime, which is even more true in Yu Yu Hakusho
(Hunter x Hunter definitely handles this the best out of Togashi's works - the Ember Reviews video
mentioned in this video is really good; I used it for a graduate school assignment about gender
identity in discussions about it, as well as how it's treated). However, there really isn't a lot you can get
out of Level E, so treatment of gender identity might as well be it (I don't dislike the anime - it's just not
as good as others and certainly not the best of Togashi).
As I already mentioned, gender identity, and treatment of it, is something that came up before in my
discussions in graduate school. People aren't sure how to treat gender identity issues as disorders, as
well as how to treat people with gender identity issues. These are also issues that come in other places
too, like with Catholics and the Catholic Church, which is something that I'm familiar with too. Over
time, we get a better understanding of these issues, which is something this video shows too by
chronicling the progress Togashi has made in his works in terms of gender identity and treatment of it.
Level E is part of this progression.
