Anime club starting in July 2020

Instead of teaching anime classes this summer (I don't know if that will happen again at the

moment, or how it would work - currently, I only talk about anime in the spring class I help with), I

have offered to start an anime club where I work when our summer session starts in July in response to

a request from our dean of faculty/academics to offer more activities for our students.  For now, this

will only be open to male and female students in our high school, as well as male and female students

in our middle school (no females yet).  I have no idea what will happen with this when it starts and

continues into the regular school year (would rather do this in person instead of virtually since it would

be easier, but I don't know when I'll be able to do that yet - I am actually not doing this now and don't

know if I would want to).

Due to this pandemic, I have been thinking a lot more about anime in relation to what I do.  For

example, I work on graduate school a lot during the week.  I usually focus more on anime over the

weekend, but I get some of it in during the week too.  What I am in graduate school for now is a

Master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology.  While anime is not really related to Transpersonal

Psychology, or rather, people most likely wouldn't put the two together, I try to whenever possible.  A

lot of what I'm studying now involves creativity, so I would definitely that to be a big part of it.

And that is also important in starting such a club or activity.  When the faculty received the request

for club and activity ideas by email, we were told to be creative with this.  I have ideas for what to do

with this anime club idea already and when watching anime now, I try to focus more on the story than

other aspects of it, whether it be the ones on this blog that I have written about already (the shorter

ones) or the ones I check out that are new to me.  Whatever I do with this club, it will be part of what I

do already.
