Contrast in Vinland Saga

There have been some anime mentioned in my anime club already that I figured I would get
around to watching. One of them is Vinland Saga (I will talk about another one next week - there is
a lot more I can say about the Seraph of the End series too, but I'm leaving that one to the student in
the club who talked about it since he's on the right track with that one in terms of what to reflect on
in it). In Vinland Saga, as the video for this reflection suggests, there is a contrast between themes of
violence and pacifism, which is seen in many ways throughout the series. Violence doesn't always
have to be the only option, but it's pretty much the best, and favorable, option in the series. Pacifism
is necessary in order for violence, when it's used, to not be too extreme (if that's a concern, which
usually isn't with this series for most fighters). Pacifism is not always the best, or even most realistic
option, especially in a world like Vinland Saga where violence is common.
