Understanding identity through love in Wandering Son

     In starting, and continuing, my research for my final research paper for one of my Transpersonal 

Psychology courses (similarities between anime and Transpersonal Psychology), I came across something 

that seems to suggest that the term transpersonal is related to the term transgender when talking about the 

anime Wandering Son.  While I'm not sure if that is really the case (maybe because of the trans part in 

both terms?), what I am sure about is what I think the anime, and the video for this reflection, focuses on, 

which is understanding identity through love.

     Understanding your identity is difficult at all times.  Loving other people, not just romantically or in a 

sexual way, can help you with this understanding since it can lead to conversations that need to happen.  

If you are not sure about yourself, what you really want, or what you are thinking, then talk to someone 

you know about that.  It's also important for the person, or persons, you talk to about these things does 

most of the listening while you do most of the talking.  If this is to be done, then love must be part of the 

equation.
