Monks in anime: BUDDHA 1 and 2

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIkLNLMuvN8 - beginning to 13:12

The video for this reflection only talks about the 1st BUDDHA movie, but I have seen the second one

and the ending of the first movie also indicates what the second one will be about, which is Siddhartha as

the Buddha starting his life as a monk to learn more about the world.  The first movie talks about his life

of trying to learn more about the world as a prince of a kingdom since he thought he had to do that due to

the prediction of another monk who visited him when he was born (this is one of the dialogue scenes of

the movie that is shown in the video - you need captions for this dialogue in order to see it subbed).  This

monk did say Siddhartha would be a king, but he didn't say how it would happen.  After trying to live his

life as a prince of a certain kingdom and learning about the world by doing that, which doesn't really

work due to what that life is like, he decides to start living as a monk to learn more about the world,

which is what the first movie ends with.

The second movie shows Siddhartha learning more about the world with other monks.  These monks

are hermits.  They don't help each other like monks who live in communities, but they help each other

with their intense training of learning more about the world and themselves.  Siddhartha eventually learns

enough to achieve enlightenment and teach others what he has learned, which is actually what the second

movie ends with.  The video also mentions a third movie.  I haven't seen it because I don't know if there

actually is a third one despite there being a plan for one, but I don't need a movie to know that one as

there are other sources to learn more about the Buddha and Buddhism besides these movies.
