When I was watching the newest episode of the Shaman King remake recently, the latest episode

happened to have monks in it.  The first video for this reflection is from that episode.  I think the only

difference compared to the original is where the incident in the video takes place, which is actually an

important difference considering what happens in the remake version.  Other than the difference in

place, I don't remember any other differences from the original, which is not what I am interested in

doing, meaning comparing the original to the remake.

What I am interested in doing though is elaborating on my comment about the importance of place,

including what it can mean and what it has to do with others.  Place is usually understood as a

location.  It doesn't matter to the monks where they ambush the main character.  It just matters that they

do it.  It may not be the best place for these monks, which proves to be the case for them by the end of

the video due to the intervention of another character claiming the place as his best place, but that is

not what they are thinking of at the moment in terms of what place means.

What these monks are most likely interested in and focused on in terms of place is the place of a

person in life, meaning their position.  The monks do not think that someone like the main character

should be messing with guardian ghosts, or sources of shaman abilities, because of his position,

although there are definitely other factors, like the fact that they were sent to get his guardian ghost by

another character.

The monks also make a brief appearance in another episode in the remake, which is the second video

for this reflection.  After being beaten by one of the teams consisting of the main character's friends

(they show that too, so these monks are also in those episodes), the monks visit them to thank them

since the monks were being controlled instead of doing what they wanted to do.  Now that they're free

from the control of the villain in the series, they are free to do what they want to do.
