Anime Lectio: Clevatess Season One

                                                           1. Why do Anime Lectio?

Anime Lectio is a time for us to stop and take a breath. Between work, activities, family life, and social media, our minds are always moving. We rarely take time to contemplate and ask, why am I watching this anime? What’s the point of all this? And, how is this making me feel?

2. Put away all distractions

(phones, work, etc.)

We are so enslaved to things that stimulate our minds. Let this be a moment for us to free our minds, look inside of ourselves, and be at peace. The only device you need for this is the one you use for this blog.

3. Deep Breathing - Open yourself to God’s Presence

Take several deep breaths. Let your mind relax. If you’ve had any questions, desires, or struggles that

you’ve been hiding or stuffing away, let them rise up to the surface. Remember God places all our thoughts and

desires inside of us, and He uses them to draw us closer to Himself. God gives us a community to help us

understand who we are and what He is calling us to do. The faces of people you know and don't know

are like signs of God’s presence.

4. Think About What’s on Your Mind in Relation to the Anime

Think about what’s been on your mind in relation to the anime.  The following is an example of such thoughts written by me.

Sometimes doing something that doesn't seem so significant ends up being really important.  Whether it be something as simple as making slight changes to the lectio guide that I use for these posts (I recently did that in the lectio guide I use where I work - I figured I could make those changes here too) or any other simple change in what you do, any change is important.  This is especially true when the change influences the people around you.  An example of this can be seen in the first season of the series Clevatess.

5. Brief and written explanation of the anime

Pay attention to how the brief and written explanation of the anime seen on this blog, or seeing the anime for yourself since that's better than any explanation, might “speak” to you or shed light on the things that have been on your minds.

A monster named Clevatess is a threat to not only a certain kingdom, but to all of humanity, so this certain kingdom sends its best heroes to defeat it.  After these heroes are defeated by this monster, this monster decides to attack the kingdom that sent these heroes due to its own curiosity.  This monster's curiosity is also why it decides to care for an infant who survived this attack after his dying caretaker asks him to do that.  Realizing that he needs help in raising this child, he revives one of the heroes he killed in order to do this and they find another person that can help them do this too.  Since this child happens to be the only surviving heir to the throne of the kingdom that was destroyed, other people, both good and bad, are also looking for this child.  After taking care of the bad people looking for this child (for now?), the monster, in his human form, continues to help raise this child with who he got to help him and who else he found who can help with this too.

6.  Reflect on the anime

Has this brief and written explanation of the anime shed any light on what's been on your minds?  The following is an example of a reflection on the anime from me.

All of the choices we have made, make now, and will make for any reason, even out of your own curiosity, may not be important when they are made, but they can become more important over time since this also involves experiences with other people. These other people can be influenced by your choices, in either good or bad ways, which also depends on how these ways are seen by the people involved. All of this is also important to think and pray about.

7. Final Prayer

Please voice any prayer intentions for friends, family, or people around the world that relate to this anime.  The following is an example written by me.

Let us pray that we can think about the choices we make, as well as why and how they can influence others.
