Anime Lectio: Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra Season One

                                                            1. Why do Anime Lectio?

Anime Lectio is a time for us to stop and take a breath. Between work, activities, family life, and social media, our minds are always moving. We rarely take time to contemplate and ask, why am I watching this anime? What’s the point of all this? And, how is this making me feel?

2. Put away all distractions

(phones, work, etc.)

We are so enslaved to things that stimulate our minds. Let this be a moment for us to free our minds, look inside of ourselves, and be at peace. The only device you need for this is the one you use for this blog.

3. Deep Breathing - Open yourself to God’s Presence

Take several deep breaths. Let your mind relax. If you’ve had any questions, desires, or struggles that

you’ve been hiding or stuffing away, let them rise up to the surface. Remember God places all our

thoughts and desires inside of us, and He uses them to draw us closer to Himself. God gives us a

community to help us understand who we are and what He is calling us to do. The faces of people you

know and don't are like signs of God’s presence.

4. Think About What’s on Your Mind in Relation to the Anime

Think about what’s been on your mind in relation to the anime.  The following is an example of such thoughts written by me.

What is evil?  If your answer is that evil is the opposite of what is good, then that would bring up the question of what is good.  There's also the terms lawful, neutral, and chaotic that you can use to describe what is good and evil (lawful good, neutral good, chaotic good, etc.), but what really matters is what you do.  An example of this can be seen in the first season, and likely others, of Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra.

5. Brief and written explanation of the anime

Pay attention to how the brief and written explanation of the anime seen on this blog, or seeing the anime for yourself since that's better than any explanation, might “speak” to you or shed light on the things that have been on your minds.

A sick boy who spent his time playing a certain game in the hospital "dies" and ends up in the world of the game he was playing while recovering in the hospital.  While people watching the anime, as well as his main female assistant, see him as a regular person, everyone else who sees him sees him as a figure with a shadowy aura.  With the help of his main female assistant, he starts an evil empire, gathering people who also support what they do, which is whatever they want when two girls they recruit ask him.  With the added help of the dark elves who join them, including the two girls who ask him about what they do (and end up being really powerful after a "hero" that is summoned sacrifices herself to save them and tells them to eat part of her), they figure out how to expand their territory.  This involves doing that based on who else is in this world, what they do, and why, which is what the first season ends with.

6.  Reflect on the anime

Has this brief and written explanation of the anime shed any light on what's been on your minds?  The following is an example of a reflection on the anime from me.

Defining evil as doing whatever you want to do makes sense since based on this definition of evil, saying that evil is the opposite of good makes it clearer what doing good is, which would be doing what you have/need to do. But what if what you have/need to do is evil? It certainly can be seen that way since there are usually two sides in every story that use the words good and evil (or good and bad; or heroes and villains), which depends on what side you end up on because of who you are, what you do, and why, as well as how that's seen. Examples of this can be seen in a lot of other series, but this series directly brings up a definition of evil that can make sense of what is good, even though it's still an interesting thing to think and pray about.

7. Final Prayer

Please voice any prayer intentions for friends, family, or people around the world that relate to this anime.  The following is an example written by me.

Let us pray that we can figure out the differences, as well as similarities, between what is good and what is evil.
