Space Dandy's direction

After taking the time to watch Space Dandy recently, I noticed the series is rather episodic.  Most

of the series doesn't make much sense as a whole until the final episode, which the video in this

reflection explains.  The video in this reflection also explains how Space Dandy does this with

something called the Dandy Effect, which I understand as Space Dandy's direction.

Space Dandy's direction has to do with several things, starting with the people behind directing the

show.  Even though the show has a main director, who has also created other anime before and after

this one with clearer stories (examples of before - Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, which are

mentioned in the video: I talk about these anime on the martial arts blog I contribute to and will

probably be the next ones I focus on with this blog; example of after - Carole and Tuesday, which is

an anime I have reflected on here already), each episode has it's own director.  This is one of the

things that gives Space Dandy it's interesting direction.

Another thing that influences Space Dandy's direction is the last episode.  As I mentioned before,

Space Dandy as a whole doesn't make much sense until the last episode.  The last episode is where all

of the other episodes before it start to make sense.  The very end is interesting because it goes back to

how the first episode began, with some differences, which would also make the direction circular, as

well as episodic.
