The spirit of religion in Saint Young Men

In the beginning of the video for this reflection, it talks about the anime movie Tokyo Godfathers,

which is an anime movie that I already discussed here as spiritual.  Saint Young Men is also an example

of a spiritual anime movie, but I think what makes it different is that it involves characters that are

associated with two major world religions, Jesus and Buddha.

This anime movie is about Jesus and Buddha on a vacation together in Japan.  They are not there to

preach or anything, but enjoy themselves.  Perhaps seeing what is going on is part of what they want to

do, but it mostly looks like they are there to be on vacation and experience what is going on around them.

Jesus and Buddha don't care about being the center of attention even though that tends to happen anyway

due to their personalities, which is also true of the first time that they were here on Earth.  What they

really care about is what others do, not just say, like to focus more on the spiritual aspect of religion, not

just religion itself.  Spirituality is doing what you say and religion is saying what you do (or should/are

supposed to do).  People tend to focus on the religion part of their thinking, not the spirituality part.  Saint

Young Men is an anime movie that reminds us of the spirit of religion.
