Something that monks like to do, and should do, is help others, which we see an example of in the

clip from episode 4 from the anime The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura for this reflection.  The monk

in this series (referred to as a head priest - monks can be priests, but not all priests are monks) is

interested in psychic powers, or ESP, because of a little girl that he met who could read minds.  The

mother of this little girl, however, asked the monk when she visited him with her if he could do

something about this mind reading ability, which was back in episode 1, but at the time, he couldn't do

anything because he didn't know what to do about it at the time.  Mind reading abilities can be misused

or not used properly, which can be seen in episode 1 of this anime, but with proper training and

guidance aided by the help of others, like the friends in this clip, as well as the monk in it, mind

reading powers can be used properly and be helpful.

In addition to learning more about ESP, the monk in this series also attempts to bring the little girl

with mind reading abilities and her mother back together.  Since no can help the mother with the mind

reading powers of her daughter by getting rid of these powers, she gets rid of her daughter instead of

learning about these powers and how her daughter can and should use them.  Time is needed to help

people, even if it's more time than initially thought, which is most likely what this monk has in mind

when helping these two people.  Time is needed to learn about others and for others to learn about each

other, which this mother and daughter eventually do.  Whether the monk had anything to do with this

either directly or indirectly is not the point.  The point is that he tried to help, which is what monks like

to do.  The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura offers an example of this.
