The monk in the anime Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time - A Tale of the Eight Guardians is one of

the guardians that protects the priestess who in turn has the power to protect the people around her.  The

first video gives the background of the monk priest guardian (when monk and priest is used, it seems like

the same thing), and of monks in general in the last part of it (there is more to it than what is said there,

but it makes a good introduction to monks in general) as well as the introduction to why he is needed to

be a guardian.  His personality, as well as other characteristics, like his sensitivity, are helpful in the

situation where he is needed to be a guardian as it allows him to think more about someone else than

himself, which is something that most of the other guardians struggle with.  However, this personality and

sensitivity also have him question who he is, what he is doing, and what things like the heart, soul, and

love mean, which is seen in the second video.
