Anime Lectio: WIND BREAKER Seasons 1 and 2

                                                            1. Why do Anime Lectio?

Anime Lectio is a time for us to stop and take a breath. Between work, activities, family life, and social media, our minds are always moving. We rarely take time to contemplate and ask, why am I watching this anime? What’s the point of all this? And, how is this making me feel?

2. Put away all distractions

(phones, work, etc.)

We are so enslaved to things that stimulate our minds. Let this be a moment for us to free our minds, look inside of ourselves, and be at peace.

3. Deep Breathing

Take several deep breaths. Let your mind relax. If you’ve had any questions, desires, or struggles that you’ve been hiding or stuffing away, let them rise up to the surface.

4. Open yourself to God’s Presence

Remember God places all our thoughts and desires inside of us, and He uses them to draw us closer to Himself. God gives us a community to help us understand who we are and what He is calling us to do. The faces of other people you know and don't know are like signs of God’s presence.

5. Think About What’s on Your Mind in Relation to the Anime

Think about what’s been on your mind in relation to the anime.  The following is an example of such thoughts written by me.

Have you ever dreamt of being the best at what you like to do?  Do you think you can achieve this dream by yourself or do you realize that it takes other people to help you achieve this dream?  What if it's both, meaning you initially think you can achieve this dream by yourself, but realize over time that you need other people to help you achieve it?  The answer to these questions can usually be seen in many ways, like in the first and second season of the series WIND BREAKER.

6. Brief and written explanation of the anime

Pay attention to how the brief and written explanation of the anime seen on this blog, or seeing the anime for yourself since that's better than any explanation, might “speak” to you or shed light on the things that have been on your minds.

A troubled delinquent, who is usually judged for his appearance and also has difficulty expressing his emotions and feelings (most likely because of the appearance issue), decides to move to a new town that is known for having the strongest gang of delinquents in order to become the strongest member due to his love of fighting.  This gang of delinquents that he's looking for ends up finding him when he ends up in a fight to protect one of the citizens of the town.  Protecting the citizens of the town, either from rival gangs or each other, is what this one gang does, so after seeing this new delinquent, they let him join their gang that meets in a school building and hangs out in one of the cafes in town.  They also have other adventures together (examples can be seen in the first two seasons - most likely future ones too whenever they happen).  This helps the troubled delinquent who initially came to a new town to get to the top of the strongest gang by himself start to realize that he'll need help getting there.

7.  Reflect on the anime

Has this brief and written explanation of the anime shed any light on what's been on your minds?  The following is an example of a reflection on the anime from me.

Delinquents in anime tend to be interesting characters and the ones in the series WIND BREAKER are an example of that. Despite what you can see with these characters, there's usually more going on with them than what you can see. Granted, this is, or rather should be, true for everyone, but delinquents can usually be seen differently because of what they do. How they do what they do, as well as think about how they can do it (by themselves versus help from others), is also different from what other people do. What's important to remember is that everyone, delinquents included, can't do everything that they want to do by themselves.

8. Final Prayer

Please voice any prayer intentions for friends, family, or people around the world that relate to this anime.  The following is an example written by me.

Let us pray that we can accept help when we need it and realize that we can't do everything, even the things we want to do, by ourselves.
