Anime Lectio: Agents of the Four Seasons

                                                            1. Why do Anime Lectio?

Anime Lectio is a time for us to stop and take a breath. Between work, activities, family life, and social media, our minds are always moving. We rarely take time to contemplate and ask, why am I watching this anime? What’s the point of all this? And, how is this making me feel?

2. Put away all distractions

(phones, work, etc.)

We are so enslaved to things that stimulate our minds. Let this be a moment for us to free our minds, look inside of ourselves, and be at peace. The only device you need is the one you use for this blog.

3. Deep Breathing - Open yourself to God’s Presence

Take several deep breaths. Let your mind relax. If you’ve had any questions, desires, or struggles that

you’ve been hiding or stuffing away, let them rise up to the surface. Remember God places all our

thoughts and desires inside of us, and He uses them to draw us closer to Himself. God gives us a

community to help us understand who we are and what He is calling us to do. The faces of people you

know and don't know are like signs of God’s presence.

4. Think About What’s on Your Mind in Relation to the Anime

Think about what’s been on your mind in relation to the anime.  The following is an example of such thoughts written by me.

Do you treat people solely based on what they can do?  Is who the person is also important or is what they can do the only thing that matters?  These questions, as well as others, can be answered in the series Agents of the Four Seasons.

5. Brief and written explanation of the anime

Pay attention to how the brief and written explanation of the anime seen on this blog, as well as seeing the anime for yourself since I think that's better than any explanation, might “speak” to you or shed light on the things that have been on your minds.

In a world where the four seasons of the year are controlled by four distinct people with powers of each season, the current agent of the season of Spring reappears after being missing for several years with her guardian (each agent has a guardian, as well as their own village).  Due to her being missing, the season of Spring hasn't happened, so she decides to make Spring happen again.  While traveling all over to do this, the other agents notice that she's back, mainly the current agent of Winter and his guardian who knew this agent of Spring and her guardian since she went missing in order to save him from their enemies that seek out the agents due to their power.  One of these enemies wanted the girl to be her new daughter to replace the one she lost.  However, this agent managed to escape on her own after experiencing a lot of abuse and trauma, without any help from her village since they didn't try hard to find her due to the fact that if she died, someone else would get her power, which also didn't help.  Even though her guardian, as well as the agent of Winter and his guardian, tried to find this agent, which her guardian eventually does without the help of the Winter agent and his guardian, they still have to deal with their enemies, as well as what they, mainly the one who wanted her to be her daughter, did to the Spring agent.  While the Summer agent, her guardian, and the guardian of Autumn work together to save the Autumn agent from this enemy who tries to make this agent her daughter, the Winter agent and his guardian work together to help the Spring agent and her guardian.

6.  Reflect on the anime

Has this brief and written explanation of the anime shed any light on what's been on your minds?  The following is an example of a reflection on the anime from me.

People are more than what they can do. We are human beings, not human doings. These ideas are a better way to express what I tried to say with the questions I asked before the brief and written explanation of the anime. These ideas can also be seen in the brief and written explanation of the anime, as well as throughout the anime itself. Treating people based only on what they can do and not who they are is problematic. Understanding the ideas of people are more than what they can do and we are human beings, not human doings is important in understanding all of this.

7. Final Prayer

Please voice any prayer intentions for friends, family, or people around the world that relate to this anime.  The following is an example written by me.

Let us pray that we can understand the ideas of people are more than what they can do and we are human beings, not human doings, in what we do and who we are.
